I need a high rez still image of the video, a screenshot for example, as the title of my question implies. The dpi remains the same at dpi, less than half what I need BTW, this dpi is the same for all screenshots, no matter what the screen shows. File format apparently has no bearing on the dpi of the screenshot. So a different approach would be to try using imovie or a fancier video editor , try to import the commercial dvd video into it and then try to create a still from that video editor.
